About Me
Who Am I?
My name is Jessica D. Tomey, born in May 1996, and I'm a character/portrait artist specialising in anime style artwork.

How Did I Know To Choose Art?
Ever since I was a little Jessy, playing around in Reception break times at John Betts Primary School, I always said to people, "I wanna be an ARTIST when I grow up~!".
To give myself a challenge, I used to use the paper and pencils the teachers would put out in the playground for us, lay the paper over patterns in the tables and scribble over the top of them creating these cool transfers. I have no idea what I ended up doing with those scribbles; I probably gave them to a teacher to be honest..!

How And Why Did I Start Drawing Anime?
The time that I got completely engrossed into Manga & Anime was 2010 whilst I was in high school at EWS, girls school. Firstly, it's the year I discovered the music videos to Daft Punk's album, Discovery, which were all anime. I found the rest of them and watched them all. During this year, I also found my favourite anime to date; Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. My focus into art and drawing anime has never been the same since then. Through the years, I also ended up creating a whole cast of characters myself.
What Did I Do Next?
In 2015, I went to SAE Institute in London to hone my untuned art skills and pick up some new skills in 3D Animation. I made a lot of friends and bonded with many of the teachers and tutors; I'm still in good contact with most of them, including my old 3D Modelling teacher. During the course of this degree, I was taught more about anatomy and I was introduced to Polymer Clay; a clay similar to the Plasticine I was used to modelling with. This all helped me develop my skills in character art and helped me find the perfect clay for me to get better at sculping; Hearty Clay. I now use this strong, light-weight clay to make all of my Anime and Chibi Models for clients

Why The Name "Jessy Scribbles"?
My old music teacher from EWS(absolutely luv 'im, he's such a warm person!), used to always call me "Jessie"; never "Jess" or "Jessica", just Jessie.
Whenever he spelt it in writing, he always used to spell it "J,E,S,S,Y" instead of using "I,E" at the end and that's where I ended up adopting that way of spelling my name shortened.
The "Scribbles" part? Well, I love to scribble and doodle things, and in some cases, I get so engrossed that it turns in a fully-fledged picture so... yeah!
